While the current resources are focused on Calgary, more options will be added in the future to expand support. Whether you're struggling to make ends meet or just need guidance in a challenging economy, these tools are here to support you. RISE CALGARY
Rise Calgary is born out of collaboration and deep partnership between BowWest Community Resource Centre and Sunrise Community Link. They operate citywide.
Rise supports low-income individuals and families with access to basic needs supports, advocacy, financial empowerment opportunities, and parenting, employment, and life skills programming.
Rise Calgary supports low-income taxation and benefits program in Calgary. Their tax filing services are free for people who are living on low income and the volunteers can file simple Alberta personal taxes.

TAX CLINICS
You may be eligible for help at a free tax clinic if you have a modest income and a simple tax situation.
Community organizations are hosting free virtual tax clinics. Volunteers may be able to complete and file your taxes for free, by video conference or by phone. Our directory will regularly be updated to include these clinics.
If you're planning to go to an in-person free tax clinic, please check our directory and call the clinic before you go.
DISABILITY TAX CREDIT
The disability tax credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit that helps persons with disabilities or their supporting family members reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay. A person with a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions may be eligible for the DTC. Once an individual is eligible for the DTC, the disability amount can be claimed on their tax return(s) for the applicable year(s). Being eligible for the DTC can allow you to claim certain deductions, credits, and benefits.
To apply for the DTC, you must submit a filled out Form T2201.
