Stories About Liam

Liam was like a ray of sunshine everywhere he went. He found ways to bring a smile to everyone’s face no matter where he was.

He taught me how to be comfortable in my own skin and provided the safest space for me to be myself. The lessons I’ve learned from him were some of the most critical to my growth as an individual, and that perfectly describes the kind of person he was.

He found ways to touch souls and impact them in life altering ways just through his energy.

He will never be forgotten by me or my family, and has a corner reserved in my heart and mind for the rest of my life.

Liam was such a beautiful person, and it’s so difficult to put into words how much he impacted my life. I first met him in grade 10 science class, and right away, I was drawn to his bright smile and infectious personality. Whether we were goofing around or helping each other with assignments, we became fast friends.

Liam had a unique way of making me laugh, even on the tough days. He always put others first, which is something I admired deeply. His kindness and generosity were only matched by his handsome appearance and that smile that could light up any room.

Liam will always hold a special place in my heart, I’ll always cherish our friendship.

Growing up, Liam was more than just a boy who lived across the street, my sister’s best friend or my favourite babysitter’s little brother. He was the only friend of my sister’s who wouldn’t call me annoying and tell me to leave, but rather include me.

I’ll never forget the day he taught me how to blow bubble gum. His patience while encouraging me to keep trying even when I wanted to give up was mesmerizing. That small memory has stuck with me, not just because it was fun, but because it showed the kind of person he was; kind, encouraging, and always there to help someone out.

Liam helped open my eyes to how little we sometimes know about what others are going through, even if they seem happy and full of life. His loss taught me to be more mindful, kinder, and to always check in on people I care about.

The thing I remember about Liam most is how he smiled.

He had something about him that lit up a room and made everyone around him comfortable. He was one of the most kind and considerate people I’ve ever met.

I’ll never forget him.

I first got to know Liam through the eyes of his mother. I met her at a conference and we became instant friends. As I got to know her more and more, she would talk about her life and her eyes would light up when she’d talk about Liam. I always got this warm feeling when she talked about him, like this sense of “I’m so glad they have each other.”

When I met Liam, I was struck by how mature he was and how much of an old soul he seemed to be. He would always say thoughtful things to me; even something as seemingly simple as “how are you doing this evening?" paired with that genuine smile and direct eye contact, was so strikingly warm and not what I would typically have expected from a young teenage boy!

I will always remember Liam at his nephew’s first birthday party. He was so delighted as he experienced his nephew experiencing the joy and wonder of a first birthday party. He was smiling and laughing and taking it all in.

I knew Liam for a short time, but he left a lasting impression on me. I think of him often and I honour his sweet and gentle soul.

One of my favorite memories with Liam is from our Grade 10 Spanish class.

Our teacher was incredibly strict, but we always found a way to make it fun by passing silly notes to each other.

Sometimes we’d help each other out with the classwork, but most of the time, we just tried to make each other laugh. Those moments weren’t just about getting through a tough class, they brought us so much closer and created a bond I’ll always cherish.

Liam had a way of making even the most ordinary moments enjoyable.

I’m so grateful for those memories and I feel so lucky to have known him.
